9 weeks

Happy New Year!
We said last year that we wouldn't go to everyone's Christmases again this year, but we did anyway. We had fun, of course, but we're pretty worn out. I've had a sinus thing going on, so I missed a lot of sleep while we were traveling, which only made it worse. But I'm feeling better now. Christmas Eve we went up to Huntsville and got to spend that day hanging out with my family. My sister's kids got sock monkeys and sock monkey pjs on Christmas Eve and they loved them. We went out looking at Christmas lights with them in their new pjs to try to wear them out.

We got to be there Christmas morning, and my brother & sister-in-law and new baby made it for Christmas morning, too. It was really nice for us all to be there! From Huntsville, we went down to Arab to eat lunch with my Daddy's family. Almost everyone was there and it was nice to see them and catch up. We came back home that afternoon and got to lay around a little. Friday we spent the day with Andrew's family in Chelsea. We played some fabulous board games (like Buzz Words and Cranium) and then had Christmas and celebrated Mr. David's birthday. I got a few much needed articles of clothing (that fit!) to get me through until the borrowed maternity clothes start fitting. Sheila got the baby a couple of presents because she just can't help it as excited as she is!! There were some footie rattles and a sweet fleece blanket.

Saturday we went back to Huntsville, but we didn't do much during the day because Bryson was sick and they had to take him to the ER. I felt bad not getting to spend time with my little buddy, but he'd been throwing up and I really don't need to get sick. But we did eat supper with the Canterbury crew (my Mama's family) and we exchanged gifts after supper. Andrew and I didn't stay long after gifts because we had to drive back to Birmingham. We enjoy getting hang out before supper, though, and update everybody on what's been going on with us.
We had a wonderful Christmas! But I'm really glad I have next week off to lay around and clean up and recharge from last week! And as promised, here is the first official belly shot. I know it doesn't look like much, but it certainly feels like more than it looks!

8 weeks

Merry Christmas!

At 8 weeks of pregnancy, I'm feeling better as the weeks go by (so far). I haven't been as nauseated and food is sounding better all the time. I'm still figuring out what foods work best for me, but eating is definitely getting easier. And that is a great thing because I'm pretty much hungry all the time. I did figure out that I need to eat something before I go to bed so that I"m not overly hungry when I wake up. Last week I hardly napped at all, which is good because I'm overloaded with paintings that need to be done for Christmas presents. And being out of school lets me sleep later and that usually makes me less sleepy throughout the day. I did have a bad dizzy spell Friday night that carried over to Saturday. I think it was because I waited pretty late to eat supper Friday night. We won't be doing that again. I don't enjoy the room spinning at all.

I have been given a lot of maternity clothes to borrow, but most of them are too big. But all my regular pants are too small. So my mother-in-law took me shopping Saturday and we found a lot things at Old Navy that fit pretty well. She said I'd have to wait til Christmas to get them, and thankfully that is only a few days away! I guess because I'm so small, my belly has just popped out quick. I'll try to get a belly picture up this week.

My next appointment is Jan 6, I'll be 10 weeks. Hopefully we'll have another ultrasound picture with something bigger to look at!

2+1=3

We went to the ob/gyn on Monday, December 8 and I am 6 1/2 weeks pregnant!! Isn't that a great birthday present for me?? We got to see it on the ultrasound (it's just a white speck right now) and hear the heartbeat a couple times. It was a little surreal!! We are very excited to be having our first baby! I was nauseated most of last week and had trouble eating, but, thankfully, I never threw up. I feel better this week, but I'm so tired! I'm glad I work short hours so I can nap every afternoon!

Monday night was also my Christmas party for the teachers at my Mother's Day Out program. I took the ultrasound pictures (even though there isn't much to see) and all the ladies were so excited. There was a lot of hugging and congratulating.

We had already told our immediate families about the upcoming appointment, but they were even more excited when we called after the appointment! My mother-in-law, Sheila, couldn't wait to share the news of her first grandbaby!

A little background info on the situation: In October, I went to see a new ob/gyn because I wanted someone that I felt was listening to me more than the last one did. I had been having a lot of endometriosis pain and wanted to dicuss the best options for the pain. We have heard from many that endo gets better during pregnancy and worse afterwards and we've also heard a lot of the opposite. It is clearly different for every woman, so our best bet was to try for pregnancy and see what happened. We are very thankful for the great blessing of only having to try for 2 months! I will try to update every week or so and put pictures of the belly to show the progress. Thanks for keeping up with us!
